Snorkeling at Molokini Crater

Monday was the first day we didn't go to the beach in the morning. Instead we drove down to Kaanapali, where my parents have their time share. it was nice but I think we like Wailea better. More laid back and less cluttered. Then we went down into Lahaina and walked through all the shops. We stopped at the Banyan tree park and the girls climbed in the trees. These trees were quite amazing. First they had huge lowhanging branches great for climbing and playing, and then these braches actually connect and grow onto other trunks of other trees, so all of the trees are connected. Really cool.

After that we went to the marina and got onot the Tadewinds II. The Tradewinds II took us out to the Molokini Crater which was formed by a volcanic steam vent many years ago when the island of Maui was first being formed. It is a Marine perserve and is fantastic for snorkeling. We chose the Tradewinds II because it has a glass bottom where Alex could enjoy the fish and under water life as well. Madi and I got in first and snorkeled arounf. Madison used a float with a gladd section to look through becuase the mask was too uncomfortable on her nose. It was a blast! We tried to get ALex to go in the water as well, but she screamed like someone was stabbing her with a knife so she just stayed in the boat and looked through the glass bottom which she loved. Next Natasha and Jasmine went in the water (via the slide on the side of the boat!) Natasha and I also got to snorkel together. We had burgers and chips on the boat on the way back. We saw several whales on the way there and back including a fluke. We also saw a turtle. All in all it was a very fun trip that everyone enjoyed. The crew was great and everyone on the boat thought the girls were adorable.

We got home and got the girls showered fed and in bed, then Natasha and I went on a fancy dinner date to Nick's Fish Market at the Fairmont Resort just down the road. Keep in mind that the cheapest room in the resort is 500 bucks! For a ocean view with a little bit of room it costs $1200!! This was a gorgeous resort to say the least! A very romantic setting and very good food and service. No pic becuase we decided to just go and enjoy and not fuss with the camera (and try not to look like super tourists the whole time :) )

It was a great day!
