Kid-Free Getaway

Natasha and I celebrated our seventh anniversary Dec. 21st and as a Christmas / Anniversary / warding off the seven year itch present we have taken our first Kid-Free trip ... to Kauai!
We spent friday evening in my parents' condo in Vancouver Washington and then flew out early on Saturday, in order to get the cheapest tickets possible we endured a six hour layover in Seattle and then a six hour flight to Kauai. Upon arriving in Li hue, Kauai we proceeded to the Avis rental car center, the efficient if not annoyed clerk gave me my keys and directed me to our "intermediate" sized car in space 19 of the Avis rental car lot. Space nineteen was conspicously concealed by the other cars in the row, as we rounded the car in space 18, this is what we were greeted by:
Of course this was unacceptable to Natasha (and me too), don't get me wrong I won't look down on anyone who drives a PT cruiser, I will just not be one of them :) So I went back in to exchange the car and the sales lady gave me a snide smile like she was in on the joke from the beginning.

Anyways we were finally off to our resort in a generic looking black sedan (a Sebring I think, most importantly NOT a PT Cruiser). We arrived late and exhausted in Princeville, but were thrilled to find our room as lush and nice as we were hoping and dreaming about. There is a small, but fully equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer, a huge jetted bathtub, a dual headed shower with lots of heat and great pressure, and a famous Westin "Heavenly" bed.

Our first two days were mostly cloudy and rainy, but that didn't stop us from laying by the pool. The first day we mostly just lazed around the resort and read our books. The second day (yesterday) we went for a long and steep hike up to a gorgeous look out point and did some more pool lounging and book reading (Natasha, just finished her 1000 page monolith of that tells you how much pool side laying we have been doing :) )

Today we went on a Jungle Adventure which included a hike, kayaking down a stream, riding on several zip lines (Natasha could not participate on this portion due to her current state) and a lunch by a swimming hole with a waterfall (which we swam in for only 30 seconds because it was very cold).

We are having a great time. We are really enjoying not having to worry about the kids or having any responsibilities, but we are also missing them tremendously. We are very thankful to our parents for watching them while we are gone.

Have to agree on the PT Cruiser. They're just kinda freaky. I am so jealous of your Hawaiian getaway. We went to Kauai four years ago and it was beautiful. Sounds like a fun time!

I just want to start it off by saying I love you guys. I am so glad that you got to get away and enjoy time together as a couple. It is nice when you get to remember why you feel in love in the first place and rekindle that flame. Enjoy!

I have been anxiously awaiting a trip update but have been so busy at work I haven't had any time to blogstalk. I'm SOOO glad you guys got to take this trip and that you are having a good time! I'll try not to tell my parents that you are prejudice against PT cruisers...lol. Can't wait to see more pictures and hear more :)
