Brock and I drove up to Portland last night to spend the night before our much anticipated half marathon! We got to Albany when I thought to ask Brock if he brought my running shoes?! Well the answer was no, which made him remember that he too had failed to bring his shoes! Seriously, we have both lost our minds:) We went back to Corvallis and got our shoes and attempted to leave once again!
We met Jasmine at Bridgeport for dinner. We decided to forego eating healthy the night before and got hagan daaz ice cream for dessert:)
We didn't end up at our hotel until around 9:30. So we pretty much went right to bed since we had to get up at 5 to be there early to pick up our race packets. Jasmine met us at our hotel and drove us to the race start and was our cheerleader/photographer:)
I've never run 13.1 miles in my entire life, so I was super anxious about the whole thing! I'm glad I didn't check out the course before the race because I would have never gone through with it! The course was mostly on country roads, the countryside was so beautiful and the weather was fabulous! The only problem was that the first seven miles were hills! I seriously thought I might die! I made a deal with myself that i'd only stop at aide stations, so luckily there were 9 of them!
Brock and I went back and forth on whether we should run together. We started together, but after two miles I left him behind:) Sorry Brock! All I could think about was I just needed to get this thing over with!
I didn't finish as fast as I would have liked to. I'm blaming that on the hills! Seriously I think I could have finished at least a few minutes faster if I wasn't running up steep inclines most of the time! So I got 2:20:18. My goal was 2:20, but I really wanted to do better than that. Oh, well I'm just glad I didn't die:)
Jaz met us at the finish line, and we had lunch together which was a lot of fun! We headed back to our hotel and showered then headed back home to get the kids:)
Anyways, I think we'll take a break from these long races for awhile. Next time I'm going to scope out a completely flat course!
Before
Jazzy
we ran into our friend Julie Hilty at the start line!
Our goal:)

What an accomplishment!!! How fun that you both ran it. Natasha, now that you've ran a 1/2 you think you'll do a full? :-)
Good job you two!!!!!!
I am so impressed! You guys are awesome...you've definitely inspired me to get back in shape (lol, if I ever was in shape). Cute pictures
Way to go!!! Dearing and I ran a half marathon in February here in Austin, and it wore me out. She went on to train for a full marathon, which she ran in Nashville, and I cheered her on during training. A half was quite the accomplishment. Congrats!

Wow, that's amazing. I am not a runner, never have been. I totally admire those of you who can run marathons. Congratualtions!
That looked like a ton of fun! I love running...but I never go these days...hopefully we will be getting a jogging stroller here soon and will be able to pick it up again!
YOU know the Hilty's?!
